Spirit of Life Metropolitan Community Church is a member of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan
Community Churches founded in 1968. Spirit of Life is one of more than 300 Metropolitan Community Churches worldwide. The
denomination ministers in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Nigeria, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, the
United States, Zimbabwe and elsewhere. It is no exaggeration to say that the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community
Churches takes the Gospel of Jesus Christ to new people every day.
Spirit of Life MCC was founded in January 1985
under the name Metropolitan Community Church of the Pines. Initially, MCC of the Pines was a mission of King of Peace MCC
in St. Petersburg, Florida. The first worship service was held in a Dunedin beauty shop. Shortly thereafter, the church rented
space from the Unitarian Universalist Church in Clearwater. MCC of the Pines was commissioned in July 1985 and incorporated
in September 1986. The church moved to its first full-time location, a rental site located in Clearwater, Fl. The church moved
north in September 1993 to a rental facility in Holiday, Fl. The church then changed its name to Spirit of Life MCC. A new
3,300 square-foot building was dedicated on August 2, 1997 at our present site in New Port Richey, Fl.
